NEC America facility to demonstrate end-to-end biometric technologies for federal government

NEC Corporation of America has launched a Federal Customer Experience Center in Arlington, Virginia, to provide immersive experiences with its facial recognition and other biometric technologies for federal personnel and customers.

The company announced the launch on Linkedin, and describes it on the facility website as a venue for hands-on, comprehensive demonstrations of its end-to-end biometric solutions. Experiences are offered for border and transportation and defense and intelligence. The curb-to-gate airport travel journey includes check-in kiosk, departure flight screen, way-finder, departure e-gate, infographic dashboard display, and airport security applications. The latter demonstration includes NEC’s Intelligent Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (iPIDS), NeoScan 45 biometric mobile units, Smartscan multi-biometric management solution, and Integra-ID multimodal biometric identification system.

NEC is currently scheduling tours of the new facility.

The company was one of several suppliers of biometric technology to government projects such as Biometric Entry/Exit, along with the IBIA and IJIS Institute, that wrote to a letter to Congress, arguing that rather than bans on facial recognition, lawmakers should pursue measures like enhanced testing and standards.
