ID R&D biometric technology added to Cherry Labs’ AI video monitoring, names new sales VP for Latin America

AI video monitoring company Cherry Labs is collaborating with ID R&D to upgrade its monitoring system for assisted care with biometric recognition and tracking features of COVID-19 symptoms, such as frequency and intensity of coughing, the company announced.

Cherry Labs has already developed a system that understands and analyzes human behavior. The technology can be leveraged to monitor employee and visitor health in stores, warehouses and industrial facilities. Cherry has already been used for elderly and disability care, to improve quality of life in assisted care facilities by monitoring symptoms and informing medical staff without exposing it to COVID-19, while preserving privacy.

“Artificial Intelligence technology provides the information that caregivers and loved ones need to remotely support individuals while maintaining their safety and security,” said Diana Anderson, associate director community services at Far Northern Regional Center, in a prepared statement. “The right supports, monitoring, and alert systems offer safer, healthier independent living. AI can help build the exact support each person needs without providing too much or too little direct caregiving.”

The system is already equipped with smart sensors for movement and behavior analysis. By adding IDAudio sound recognition technology from ID R&D, worsening symptoms can immediately be detected. Families and caregivers have access to the videos and to a daily summary customized per activity and movement.

“We’ve been working with ID R&D for some time to determine how audio event detection technology can offer additional input to improve remote monitoring for the elderly and people with disabilities,” said Nick Davidov, Cherry Labs co-founder, in the announcement. “When this case was presented to us, we knew we could use our joint technology to keep this patient out of the hospital while still monitoring his condition for signs of worsening, namely decreased activity and increased coughing.”

ID R&D has been included in Gartner’s 2020 Market Guide for User Authentication, which recognizes the company for excellence in biometric voice, face and behavioral user authentication and anti-spoofing technology.
