TECH5 biometrics aimed at UK digital ID management market with launch of new subsidiary
TECH5 has announced the opening of a new subsidiary in the United Kingdom to expand its presence in the local digital identity market with the aim of creating a multifaceted biometric Digital ID solution fully owned and managed by UK citizens.
“Digital ID is currently the number one strategic focus of TECH5, and we are investing in its entrance to new markets,” explained TECH5 Strategic Advisor Rob Haslam. “Our solution is fully compliant with all the latest digital ID requirements of the UK market, and we are looking forward to proving its efficiency for helping to fight the pandemic, as well as for other use cases.”
The new TECH5 subsidiary will provide access to its biometrics-backed digital ID solutions to its UK partners, including the T5-Mobile ID for biometric vaccination confirmation.
T5-Mobile ID was first unveiled earlier this month and is currently being tested in the UK to prove COVID-19 vaccination status, negative tests, and antibody tests in order to enable citizens to travel despite the pandemic restrictions.
“We at TECH5 have over 20 years of experience in the implementation and running of biometric-based identity management projects” commented Rahul Parthe, Co-founder and CTO of TECH5. “Based on our knowledge, we built the technology platform called T5-Mobile ID that addresses one of the most common needs of digital identity management – connecting digital identity to its owner biometrically.”
Tech5’s platforms are used to manage more than 380 million active identities around the world, and process more than 250,000 transactions each day, according to the announcement.
The company received $2.5 million from Yinda Infocomm earlier this year in its first external investment.
