Veriff launches self-serve instant biometric ID verification solution, hires new CFO

Veriff’s advanced identity verification-as-a-service platform with selfie biometrics has been launched to expand access to its intelligent decision engine for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). This comes as the identity verification company says it has also brought in Amish Mody as its new chief financial officer.
The new biometric service, which comes in three tiers, is aimed at helping SMBs build trust with their customers by enhancing and speeding up intelligent, accurate and automated online ID verification processes, especially at a time when a spike in online activities due to the pandemic has resulted in increased ID fraud.
The Veriff solution has the capacity to verify about 9,000 government-issued IDs issued in over 190 countries.
Janer Gorohhov, co-founder and chief product officer of Veriff, said the new product will go a long way in helping businesses biometrically verify customers are really who they say they are.
“As organizations face tougher IDV regulations and look to mitigate fraud risk, we want to ensure they have an option for safe, reliable and instant identity verification. Our Self-Serve model will help SMBs get up-to-speed and compliant quickly, and with different pricing levels, organizations of all sizes can have IDV capabilities that are scalable as they grow.”
Roul Tutt, board member of Holm Bank, an institution using the new service, said its customers can now securely carry out most of their transactions online.
“Thanks to Veriff’s self serve platform, our clients can securely verify themselves in the self serve and continue doing all their banking transactions online just using a smartphone or a computer,” Tutt says.
Veriff’s customer base so far includes several larger organizations, like Bolt, which recently signed on for biometric customer verification.
New chief financial officer on board
Amish Mody, a renowned investment banker and former vice president of Finance at UK-based fintech Monese, is the company’s new CFO.
In his new assignment, Mody will handle financial planning and analysis, accounting, business intelligence, and other related matters, Veriff says.
“So far I’ve experienced the ID verification business from a client’s perspective, and now I’ll get to see the other side. Any fast growing and successful company needs a great team – the enthusiasm, professionalism and friendliness of Veriff’s people made the decision to join the journey an easy one for me,” Mody said of his move.
On his part, Kaarel Kotkas, Veriff founder and CEO, said Mody’s knowledge of the startup world and his unique financial management background will be a plus to the Veriff team.
Before working with Monese, where is credited with overseeing the company’s rapid development, he had worked for ten years as an investment banker in Europe with focus on mergers and acquisitions.
