Route1 Inc., a Toronto-based provider of secure access technologies for the mobile work space, today announced that it has entered into a services agreement with Fasken Martineau to provide 100 of their Canadian based legal professionals with MobiKEY technology. MobiKEY is a mobile access solution that uses comprehensive multi-factor authentication and identity management to securely connect an organization’s assets with its employees, mobile workers, and contractors.

Fasken Martineau is a leading international business law and litigation firm, with more than 770 lawyers, and offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal, Québec City, London, Paris and Johannesburg.

With MobiKEY, remote and mobile workers are able to securely and cost effectively access their work space from any device without exposing the organization to the risk of data spillage or malware propagation. MobiKEY customers include Fortune 500 companies, as well as the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of Energy and the Government of Canada.

“An increasingly mobile workforce presents massive risks to confidential or sensitive client and enterprise information. Mobile devices, tablets or laptops, whether enterprise-issued or employee-owned that are not utilizing the correct security technology are one of the biggest reasons for the countless data breaches we see today,” stated Brian Brunetti, President of Route1. “If data is stored on a mobile device, it will most likely be compromised when that device is lost or stolen. Additionally, introduction of malware to an enterprise’s network is also a strong possibility when mobile devices connect remotely as nodes, such as through a VPN or a browser.”

MobiKEY is designed to counter and challenge such mobile threats. The technology will allow Fasken Martineau’s team members to remotely connect to their firm’s assets with zero change to their workspace environment. Further, the use of MobiKEY will allow Fasken Martineau’s legal professionals to enjoy robust secure mobile access, while protecting the firm against malware, data spillage and network breaches.

“Fasken Martineau is constantly evaluating new and different solutions to stay at the forefront of data protection for the benefit of our clients. We are pleased to have found a product that we believe provides the security necessary to do just that and look forward to working with Route1”, said Marc Prémont, Chief Technology Officer at Fasken Martineau.
