UIDAI implements Innovatrics SDK

Innovatrics has announced that its ANSI&ISO SDK has been implemented by the Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI) for a biometric authentication system through Aakash 2 tablets.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has recognized the Innovatrics algorithm for its accuracy and according to the company, the algorithm has become one of the top 3 most accurate on the market. The SDK boasts an extraction speed of 100ms.

Also, according to the company, ANSI&ISO SDK is the only fingerprint extraction, template generator and SDKs matcher that is both STQC and MINEX-compliant.

Reported previously, The Unique Identity Authority of India is enrolling applicants faster than the National Population Register project, based on a Home Ministry assessment of the two projects.

The UIDAI and NPR have long battled over the priority and status of their respective biometric enrollment projects. As the Economic Times reports, according to a Home Ministry assessment of the two projects, by the end of March, 2013, the UIDAI had issued over 300 million Aadhaar numbers after enrolling nearly 380 million people, whereas the NPR captured the biometrics of only 120 million.
