GEO Semiconductor, SpeechFX and VoiceVault launch biometric home automation solution

GEO Semiconductor, SpeechFX and VoiceVault have just launched Granta, something the group says is the net generation of smart home automation technology.

Specifically, Granta contains voice and vision control capabilities designed for user interfaces for home security and entertainment control devices. Demonstrated recently at the Voice Biometrics Conference in San Francisco, Granta is primarily targeted at home security, smart TC and entertainment markets.

The three companies have combined expertise and are effectively able to embed voice and vision algorithms on a tiny IC in any device in the home for voice detection, voice biometric security as well as gesture video analytics.

“VoiceVault is pleased to be providing the voice biometric component to this new solution set and to be working with GEO Semiconductor and SpeechFX,” VoiceVault CEO, Andrew Lawson said. “We know that by leveraging each of our unique technologies, we are providing incredible new applications and possibilities for connected homes.”

Unlike some other products emerging in the home automation space, Granta actually employs speaker recognition, as opposed to just speech recognition capabilities.

“Voice enabled applications, powered on ARM cores, with voice verification is a compelling solution for a wide reach of commercial and user devices,” Roger Dudley, CEO of SpeechFX, Inc. said. “Home security and smart devices provides a ready-built market to expand these combined technologies.”

Reported previously, VoiceVault recently launched a language-independent passphrase authentication system, as well as a voice biometrics-centric financial services mobile app.

In addition, last year, the company announced that an unnamed major U.S. cable provider is using its system for authenticating its retail customers over the phone.
