North American airports operating more than 1000 APC kiosks: reports

Acuity Market Intelligence has published three new reports which show there has been rapid deployment of APC Kiosks over the past two years, resulting in the significant improvement of the passport control experience for millions of international travelers to North America.

The first report, “APC Kiosk Deployment List“, offers a detailed breakdown of each known deployment including the number of units, locations, installation date, vendors and costs, as well as each vendor’s market share.

The second report is entitled “ABC eGate Deployment List” which provides detailed information about the locations in which ABC eGates have been deployed.

The third report, “The Global Automated Border Control Industry Report: Airport eGates and Kiosks“, offers a comprehensive analysis and detailed forecasts for airport based Automated Border Control (ABC) kiosks and eGates.

There are currently more than 1,000 machines operating in 37 airports on a daily basis in the US and Canada with recent pre-clearance operations expansion to the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East.

“The market for APC Kiosks has exploded over the past two years achieving a CAGR of more than 70%,” said Maxine Most, principal at Acuity Market Intelligence. “While the US and Canadian markets are approaching saturation levels, the rest of the world remains a largely untapped opportunity. The US Department of Homeland Security’s May 29, 2015 announcement that they have entered negotiations to extend pre-clearance to ten airports in nine countries in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean is a huge boon for the APC Kiosk market.”

Two vendors in particular have driven this growth in APC Kiosks, leading with Vancouver Airport Authority, which currently has 688 APC Kiosks deployed at 25 locations for a 66% market share.

SITA currently has 210 units at 10 airports, which represents 20% market share. Four additional vendors are responsible for the remaining 137 APC kiosk units at seven airports.
