FIDO Alliance names ING, USAA board members, hosting Q&A webinar

 

The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance announced that ING in Europe and USAA in the U.S have joined its board of directors.

ING in Europe and USAA in the U.S. join the 25-member FIDO board of directors, which also includes financial institutions Bank of America, Discover, MasterCard, PayPal, and Visa,

FIDO is seeing strong momentum from the financial services (FS) sector with several financial services expressing interest in joining FIDO since PayPal first joined in 2013 to establish the FIDO Alliance.

“I couldn’t be more pleased by how leading financial institutions from around the world have embraced and supported the FIDO Alliance this early into our mission to deliver open standards for simpler, stronger authentication,” said Brett McDowell, executive director of the FIDO Alliance. “I look forward to collaborating strategically with USAA and ING Bank as we move beyond standards development to fostering global deployment of FIDO authentication.”

FIDO is also hosting a live Q&A webinar on July 29th at 9 a.m. PST, which will feature a lineup of technology experts who will discuss new capabilities for wireless FIDO U2F.

Speakers will include Google securineer Alexei Czeskis, FIDO Alliance executive director Brett McDowell, and Yubico identity evangelist John Fontana.

Previously reported, Egis Technology recently moved up from being a sponsor of the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance to a full-fledged board member.
