SK Planet fingerprint authentication solution secures FIDO certification

South Korean payment service firm SK Planet announced that its biometric authentication solution passed the Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance’s interoperability test, according to a report by Business Korea.

The interoperability test ensures that SK Planet’s biometric authentication solution complies with FIDO 1.0 specifications, which are Universal Authentication Framework (UAF) and Universal 2nd Factor (U2F).

Within the next few months, SK Planet will integrate its FIDO Certified biometric authentication solution into mobile shopping service Syrup and online shopping mall website 11 Street.

The integration will enable users to verify their identity via fingerprint identification technology to successfully authorize mobile payments.

SK Planet also said it plans to use the authentication solution in the Internet of Things and Online to Offline businesses through various partnerships, in addition to its services that require identity verification.

SK Planet provides consumers with products and services that facilitate a seamless shopping experience, including its one-click payment service designed for PC and smartphone users.

The company continues to target oversea markets including the U.S. and Turkey, as well as throughout Asia.

Previously reported, the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance announced there are 62 FIDO Certified products after the second round of FIDO Alliance testing of products for compliance to the FIDO 1.0 specifications.
