Digitus Biometrics releases combined smartcard and fingerprint access control solution
Digitus Biometrics announced it has released db DualLock, a solution the company refers to as the industry’s first access control swing-lock that enables dual-factor authentication at the cabinet door.
Db DualLock combines advanced fingerprint biometrics technology with the latest innovations in RFID smartcard technology, enabling it to compare the probe biometric sample with the biometric reference on board the card.
This so-called “match on card” technology is able to address privacy concerns, as well as some scalability and integration challenges.
“We purpose-built db DualLock to meet this security demand while also addressing the complexities related to regulatory compliance, particularly in how private biometric data is used and secured,” said Chris Marsden, CEO of Digitus. “Additionally, we wanted to design a solution that works with existing infrastructure because many enterprises already have third-party access control management systems and extensive server cabinet equipment that they’ve heavily invested in. db DualLock works in any environment, is easy to install and is designed to help companies of all industries meet the most rigorous regulatory and compliance requirements.”
In addition to being easily integrated with third-party access control management (ACM) platforms, db DualLock can be scaled to handle an unlimited number of users.
Since the RFID card is able to store up to three fingerprint templates, including the “duress” template option, there is no inherent need to upload templates or Personally Identifiable Information directly to the device.
The security feature authenticates in real-time their fingerprint with their enrolled fingerprint biometrics template stored on the card.
The product features the latest generation of RFID smartcard technology, including the latest iClass card format that enables advanced anti-counterfeiting features and encryption capabilities.
Db DualLock handles integrate with existing Digitus technology, such as db Bus and db Sentry systems, providing existing customers with more options when adding or updating racks, or integrating into their ACM platform.
Previously reported, Entertech Systems and Digitus Biometrics have integrated Entertech’s BioConnect identity management platform with the Digitus db Bus and db Cabinet Sentry for server cabinet access control to launch a fully-integrated solution called db BioConnect.
