Emerson Process Management to integrate Xyntek biometric authentication solution

Emerson Electric Co.’s EMR operating division, Emerson Process Management, has partnered with industrial automation solutions firm Xyntek, Inc. to integrate biometrics with operations management software.

More specifically, Emerson plans to integrate its Syncade Smart Operations Management Suite with Xyntek’s biometric authentication solution to generate a comprehensive security layer that will ensure strict user-identity authentication.

The move will effectively upgrade security standards, protecting sensitive user documents by reducing the potential of theft.

As a result, users will be able to uphold legal and compliance standards more effectively as well as prevent any costs associated with stolen identification cards or passwords.

End-users can use any combination of password, identification card, or biometrics (fingerprint, palm vein reader, and/or iris scan) for secure access to sensitive records and to deliver faster sign-offs and better documentation while maintaining tight security.

Xyntek’s biometric solution supports biometric sensors from some of the market’s largest vendors, including UPEK, Authentec, CrossMatch, Testech, Identix and Dermalog.

Emerson and Xyntek’s new solution meets several regulatory requirements including “21 CFR Part 11” compliance for system security, user access and electronic signatures.

The partnership signals the rising demand for the integration of biometrics with manufacturing processes, which has become a popular trend in pharmaceutical manufacturing and other regulated industries.
