Pramati intros thumbprint biometric authentication platform
Pramati Technologies has introduced the ThumbSignIn biometric thumbprint authentication SaaS platform for mobile and web applications, which has been certified by the FIDO Alliance.
Using the platform, enterprises and service providers are able to deploy strong authentication solutions that lower their reliance on passwords and protect against phishing, man-in-the-middle, and replay attacks based on stolen passwords.
ThumbSignIn allows organizations to enable users to sign in to websites, web applications from desktop web browsers, and mobile apps biometrically — all without using a password.
The platform uses public key cryptography to securely send authentication data over the internet, and unlike password-based systems, the authentication process is conducted entirely on users’ mobile devices so that the biometric data is never stored on the server.
This method enables users to gain full control of their credentials and significantly decreases the liability of enterprises because hackers will have less of an incentive to hack into servers to steal username/password information.
The recent FIDO certification ensures that ThumbSignIn maintains the high degree of technical robustness, complies with the FIDO industry standards, and ensures interoperability with other FIDO Certified products in the market.
Additionally, FIDO certification fo ThumbSignIn extends across the company’s server and client products, ensures that customers are deploying a highly secure solution and provides assurance of seamless interoperability with other FIDO Certified products across industry.
ThumbSignIn is also available as a cloud-based service that enables developers to quickly integrate the platform’s thumbprint authentication capabilities into their websites.
The server was built in GoLang, a Google-developed systems development language that enables software developers to leverage the power of modern multi-core machines and develop high-performance system software.
Pramati has also developed SDKs for the IoS and Android platforms, allowing developers to integrate strong biometric authentication capabilities into their mobile applications or download the free ThumbSignIn app at the Android and Apple app stores.
“FIDO certification is rapidly becoming a linchpin to adoption of mobile products and devices,” said Vijay Pullur, co-founder and president of Pramati. “The number of FIDO Certified products grew by 200 percent in 2016 alone, and that growth rate is expected to accelerate as alliance members pursue certification for laptops, payment cards, and other devices. For customers, that’s good news as they are assured of an unprecedented level of mobile security and interoperability. We believe that FIDO certification will be an overwhelming incentive for customers in their product adoption.”
The ThumbSignIn SaaS platform and mobile SDKs are now available as a free service for all developers.
Additionally, there is a paid version of ThumbSignIn available for enterprises that require on-premises or private cloud deployment of the product suite, custom integration services, and dedicated support.
Pramati also plans to integrate ThumbSignIn with products from its WaveMaker and SpotCues businesses.
