Nok Nok Labs, Intel integrated authentication solution enable secure payments

Nok Nok Labs announced that its NNL S3 Authentication Suite (S3 Suite) has been integrated to interoperate on the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX) technology.

This integration is a key aspect of a strong, hardware-protected authentication framework powered by the Nok Nok S3 Suite and enables secure, standards-based authentication for consumers.

The NNL S3 Authentication Suite is a FIDO-certified solution and delivers FIDO capabilities to devices in which it is deployed.

As a result, the NNL S3 Authentication Suite deploys a stronger, private, and easier-to-use authentication system.

Combining Intel platform capabilities with Nok Nok Labs’ expertise in developing and deploying FIDO-based solutions will provide users access to seamless and more secure online authentication options.

“Passwords are a problem. This problem goes beyond mobile devices and creates a stumbling block for every online service we consume,” said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and CEO of Nok Nok Labs. “The collaboration that Nok Nok Labs has had, and continues to have, with Intel has been terrific.

“Together we are bringing FIDO-certified authentication for new 8 th Gen Intel Core processors – to the personal computer ecosystem. More and more, FIDO is everywhere. Authentication needs to be secure from the silicon layer to the cloud and it’s been integral to work with Intel in enabling that journey.”

By eliminating the need for users to remember passwords, NNL and Intel’s integrated solution will allow consumers to access, and pay for, online services in a a more secure and simpler manner, as well as reduce the risks of fraud for the service providers.

“By collaborating with Nok Nok Labs, Intel demonstrates our continued commitment to innovation, simplification, and security of the computing experience,” said Rick Echevarria, vice president of software and services group and general manager of Intel’s platform security division. “Consumers who choose the latest 8 th Gen Intel Core based laptops, will gain access to strong authentication enabling secure payments in a safer, simpler, more hassle-free way.”

Last month, Nok Nok Labs raised $8 million in a Series D financing, led by Motorola Solutions Venture Capital.
