Fingerprint Cards announces partnership with Linxens

Fingerprint Cards has announced a partnership with Linxens, a designer and manufacturer of microconnectors for smartcards and RFID antennas.

The partnership, targeted towards card manufacturers, will see Fingerprint Cards providing its T-Shape sensor module for Linxens’ contactless fingerprint-on-card Prelam.

According to a company statement, Linxens’ Prelam technology integrates and connects all the functional components of a smartcard and can be converted into finished cards by means of standard smartcard machinery and processes. As well, Linxens’ tape technology makes the fingerprint sensor fully compatible with the smartcard industry’s requirements.

“Collaboration is key in the smartcard ecosystem,” explains Thomas Rex, SVP, Business Line Smartcards, at Fingerprint Cards. “Linxens is a leading provider in the smartcard arena and this partnership means that we will be advancing in this market together to offer a truly integrated and scalable solution for smartcard manufacturers of next generation payment cards.”

In other company news, FPC announced four new product integrations in the last week.

Xiaomi’s Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus features the FPC1035 and FPC1028 sensor, the Huawei Nova 2S features the FPC1267 sensor and the OPPO A79 features the FPC1228 touch sensor. This is the first commercial launch of the FPC1228, the Swedish biometrics company’s smallest under glass sensor.
