FIDO Alliance adds Amazon to board of directors
FIDO Alliance announced today in a blog post that Amazon has joined its board of directors.
“It’s been so important to have the companies that define the digital economy on the FIDO Alliance board of directors,” writes Brett McDowell, executive director of FIDO Alliance. “Their input is essential in guiding the FIDO strategic vision of enabling simpler, stronger and more consumer-centric authentication experiences that move beyond passwords for online and transaction security.
“We look forward to the valuable inputs from Amazon as the FIDO Alliance continues to work towards our goal to provide open standards that will help enable the seamless and secure ecommerce experiences that consumers are coming to expect and demand.”
“Customer trust has always been at the center of every decision we make, especially in securing customer information,” added Sean Estrada, Amazon’s head of industry security engagement. “We look forward to working with other industry leaders on a customer-focused approach to authentication.”
Earlier this month, FIDO Alliance announced that membership in its FIDO Japan Working Group doubled in the first year.
