Agilysys adds facial recognition to hospitality management system

Hospitality services provider Agilysys has announced the enhancement of its rGuest Stay PMS (property management system) solution with facial recognition to streamline operations and improve guest experiences.

The system can identify a returning guest as he or she approaches the front desk and display any guest information saved, such as room preferences. The facial recognition capability is easily disabled or enabled as needed, according to the announcement.

rGuest Stay is a native cloud and web-based solution, and is capable of working with voice-activated AI assistants like Amazon Alexa.

“rGuest Stay is a next-generation solution that goes beyond traditional property management systems in many ways,” said Larry Steinberg, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Technology at Agilysys. “The open, multi-functional rGuest platform enables operators to manage and grow their businesses through an easily addressable cloud-based architecture. rGuest Stay enables properties to move towards a more guest-centric and streamlined operation, resulting in improved profitability and increased guest loyalty.”

Oracle research from last year revealed that biometrics will play key role in hospitality industry.
