Colombian Police select Chainway mobile fingerprint readers

Colombian Police have deployed Chainway mobile fingerprint readers for rapid capture of suspects’ biometric data. According to the announcement, Chainway worked with its local partner Olimpia IT on the project.

The Chainway C71 is an Android rugged mobile computer featuring an optical fingerprint sensor and barcode reader. C71 is FIPS 201 compliant, and enables secure data encryption and fake finger detection. It features a quad-core processor and wireless connections including 4G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Other biometric data capture options are available with the device, including face and iris recognition.

The fingerprint data of Colombia citizens has already been enrolled in the national fingerprint database so when citizens pass border and other custom inspection points, their identity can be validated in real time using a secure digital process.

Earlier this month Colombia’s border agency deployed iris recognition technology at Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport to speed up identity authentication and reduce bottlenecks in the immigration process.
