Rank One releases updated version of face recognition SDK

Rank One announced the release of version 1.16 of the ROC SDK, which includes significant feature enhancements to the face recognition solution.

The updated version provides across-the-board precision improvements for all capture scenarios, face recognition accuracy is more equally balanced across different racial and gender cohorts and users can now perform recognition across all facial pose angles including full-pose face detection and profile to frontal face matching. According to the announcement the most significant improvements relate to algorithmic efficiency. Template size has been reduced by 60%, down to 133 bytes. The ROC SDK’s small template size, comparison and enrollment speeds and robust accuracy yield significant hardware cost savings for customers.

Rank One also released major enhancements to its passive liveness/anti-spoof algorithm. The patent-pending technique requires no special hardware and is effective at deterring printed photo and digital screen replay attacks using a single image capture. This liveness solution performs well on both fixed-focus and auto-focus cameras, covering both front-facing and rear-facing cameras on mobile devices and addressing both selfie and access control use cases.

“The release of 1.16 comes at an exciting time for Rank One as it coincides with our company’s three year anniversary,” said Rank One’s CEO Brendan Klare. “This version is indicative of everything our customers have come to love about our facial recognition software: fast, accurate, affordable, and easy-to-use solutions.”
