Motiv adds 2FA and biometric identification features to its smart ring wearable
Wearable technology developers Motiv has released a new version of its fitness tracking smart ring that includes new features to secure users’ digital identity, biometric identification and token authentication.
WalkID offers continuous, passive biometric authentication using gait analysis and is available now in open beta. Additionally, Motiv Ring users will soon be able to use fingerprint and facial recognition through the Motiv app as an added layer of security through a user’s phone.
For two-factor authentication users will be able to certify a login attempt with a simple gesture of your Motiv ring. It will also support password-free logins on Google Chrome and Windows Edge with FIDO2 and WebAuthn. Motiv’s 2FA features are available today for iOS users, and for Android users as an open beta.
“With so many devices, passwords, and accounts, practicing good online security is complicated,” explained Tejash Unadkat, CEO of Motiv. “Since Motiv is already on your finger, worn throughout your day, that same hardware can become an easy, uncomplicated stepping stone to a more secure digital identity.”
The Motiv Ring is now FIDO Certified and is interoperable among other products and services that support FIDO Alliance specifications. This updated version is available to new Motiv buyers and existing owners via software updates.
