Entrust Datacard extends PKI technology and market reach with Safelayer acquisition
Entrust Datacard has acquired Safelayer Secure Communications S.A., adding its eID capabilities for people and connected devices, and footprint in Continental Europe and Latin America.
Safelayer provides security software for public key infrastructure (PKI), multi-factor authentication, electronic signature, data encryption, and the protection of electronic transactions. Entrust Datacard picks up its popular eIDAS-compliant digital signature technology, which combines authentication, single sign-on (SSO) and identity federation.
“At Entrust Datacard we are committed to being the industry leader in certificate-based security solutions across the regions we serve. As such, we look forward to bringing Safelayer’s established PKI and Electronic Trust Services in EMEA and Latin America into our portfolio,” Entrust Datacard Chief Information Officer Anudeep Parhar says. “The strong and talented team at Safelayer, coupled with their digital signature solution and eIDAS competencies, enhances our team and further establishes our commitment to accredited trust services across these regions and globally.”
Entrust Datacard will maintain Safelayer’s offices and employees in Barcelona and Madrid, according to the announcement.
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Entrust Datacard recently upgraded its Mobile Smart Credential technology, which provides continuous authentication with PKI, biometric, device and behavior analysis, with Bluetooth support. It also added a foothold in Continental Europe with the August acquisition of multi-factor authentication solution SMS Passcode from cloud security company CensorNet.
