CardLab partners with QuardLock on complete biometric smartcard system

CardLab has integrated its biometric card solution with QuardLock’s backend authentication system to secure payment cards against fraud and identity theft with fingerprint technology from CardLab partner Fingerprint Cards.

The companies say almost a billion accounts have been hacked, leading to loss of financial and private data, in the last 12 months.

To eliminate problem, CardLab uses “system on card” authentication with Fingerprint Cards’ FPC1080A swipe scanner and FPC1300-series T-Shape touch sensor. The full system has recently been launched for pilots by three customers, with five more partners expected to begin using it in January, 2019, all with the FPC1300-series T-Shape sensor.

The system’s development completes the BiOTP card project, which was supported by the Danish Market Maturation Fund. The complete system can be used to secure e-banking, ecommerce, e-government, and unique ID applications, according to the announcement. The companies also say sustainable production processes for the cards are in place, with tools and machinery tested and verified for volume delivery of sophisticated fingerprint smart cards.

CardLab formed a strategic partnership with Thai British Secure Printing (TBSP) earlier this year to provide its RFID skimming protection and fingerprint technologies, and leverage TBSP’s certifications for major card brands including Visa and Mastercard.
