NEXT Biometrics fingerprint technology chosen for Aadhaar payment solution

NEXT Biometrics announced today that its Aadhaar-certified fingerprint sensor module has been selected for use in MobiOcean`s Aadhaar authentication and payments mobile platform for the Indian market.

The STQC and UIDAI certified sensor by NEXT Biometrics is part of MobiOcean`s POS solution comprised of hardware, software, service and maintenance. The POS solution facilitates Aadhaar Enabled Payment System applications for government authorities and merchants allowing users to conduct payment transactions by using a person`s Aadhaar number and fingerprint authentication. The device also supports credit card, debit card, UPI, wallet and other payment forms.

“We are pleased to record an increasing number of partners for Aadhaar-based solutions,” said Ritu Favre, CEO of NEXT Biometrics. “This is paramount for obtaining a strong market position in India and underscores the versatility and superior performance of our technology.”

“Making use of NEXT`s proven technology is a decisive factor in our ambition to help businesses of any size benefit from flexible, reliable and secure mobility solutions,” added Kamal Rana, CEO of MobiOcean. “The Aadhaar program offers a vast array of possibilities. Integrating leading technologies into our solutions is key for us to capture these growth opportunities.”

Earlier this week NEXT announced it is partnering with M-Tech Innovations to develop and deploy biometric card solutions for India. NEXT began expanding its operations in India last August to support the company’s increased activity in the country. NEXT’s team in India is led by Crossmatch, Safran Morpho and Gemalto veteran Ameya Bhagwat, and also includes Sanjith Sundaram, who spent five years with the Unique Identification Authority of India.
