UnionCommunity director honored for fingerprint technology development

 

UnionCommunity announced today that its R&D Center Director Baek Yong-Hyun has been selected winner of the “Korean Engineer Award” by the Ministry of Science and ICT for his contribution to financial industry growth through his work developing fake finger detection and liveness detection technology.

The company, which offers Virdi and Nitgen among its brands, notes that its VScan-S30MA digital fingerprint scanner was developed by Baek using the company’s patented technology, and that he helped build an electronic-documentation system for secure financial transactions. Baek has also developed biometric spoofing technology that detects fake fingerprints made out of paper, film, silicon and gelatin.

UnionCommunity introduced its new UBio Series devices at its recent global partner conference.
