LG distributes G8s ThinQ smartphone with biometric sensors in India

LG has officially launched its G8S ThinQ with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 system-on-chip to the Indian market, an excellent competitor for OnePlus 7 Pro, Honor 20 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S10e, writes BGR.

A premium smartphone, the G8s follows in the footsteps of the G8 released in February 2019. Like its predecessor, G8s is loaded with features that deliver enhanced biometric security.

The Z Camera, located on the front of the phone, measures what is happening in front of it with the time-of-flight (ToF) sensor, paired with the selfie camera, and IR lights, together enabling a hands-free experience. It maps 3D space and lets users use only gestures to answer calls, snooze alarms or increase volume.

The phone can be unlocked through the 3D sensor palm scanner that analyzes the user’s circulatory hand pattern, delivering enhanced security that can’t be achieved with just fingerprints, facial recognition and passwords, LG says. The sensor also scans the user’s facial features to unlock the phone for more robust security and has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

LG’s new smartphone also comes with cinema-grade 4K HDR videography, it runs on Android Pie and supports wireless charging. It has a 6.2-inch Full HD+ OLED display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, USB Type-C and 4G LTE, it comes with MIL-STD 810G compliance and is IP68 water and dust resistant. It can be purchased immediately for a competitive price of Rs 36,990 (respectively US$523) in Mirror Black, Mirror Teal and Mirror White.
