Tascent announce regional biometrics support center in Malaysia

Tascent has announced the construction of a regional support center in Malaysia to serve customers of its biometric products and services in the region.

The center will be built in collaboration with strategic manufacturing partner Min Aik and will see the companies build, manufacture, and maintain Tascent’s range of InSight high-throughput biometric devices, as well as support regional deployments.

The move is aimed at satisfying the increasing demand for biometric technologies in both government and commercial sectors across the region.

According to the company, 1,200 InSight face and iris recognition devices have already been deployed in the region, and the company intends to further strengthen its regional ties in the years to come.

In fact, Tascent has been eying opportunities in Asia for a while. Last year, the company had its biometric face and iris scanning technology trialed at Malaysia’s border checkpoint.

Tascent also introduced its M1 mobile fingerprint capture device at last year’s ID4Africa event.

Earlier this year, the company launched InSight Face EBT, a new device with facial recognition and contactless external body temperature scanning.

The Insight line, which will be deployed in the new Malaysian center, include Insight Face, a face acquisition tool for travel, hospitality, enterprise access, and InSight One, a device for iris and face biometrics authentication for the travel, access, and identity sectors.

Other tools from Tascent comprise biometric identity software Tascent Enterprise Suite, as well as Tascent MX, a mobile biometrics system developed for flagship smartphone devices.
