NEC New Zealand and JNCTN to bring together biometrics and cloud digital identity tools
NEC New Zealand has announced a new biometrics partnership with identity and credential management solutions firm JNCTN on Tuesday.
The move will see JNCTN integrate its cloud-based solutions within NEC’s biometric authentication technology and processes. This will allow JNCTN customers to utilize NEC’s worldwide reach to expand in new markets.
“This is a fast-moving sector and we’re particularly interested in what’s next for digital trust and the frameworks to support it like DIA’s Digital Identity Trust Framework,” said Wayne Stemp, JNCTN’s Founder.
“There is significant demand to provide people and businesses with accessible, secure and easy to use verified digital credentials,” he added.
JNCTN’s partnership with NEC follows the New Zealand-based company securing funding from Yoti’s CEO in August to expand digital identity product development.
NEC New Zealand, on the other hand, is the local subsidiary of a firm with proven expertise in biometrics and AI. NEC Corporation recently acquired Avaloq to combine biometrics and analytics with cloud services for digital transformation.
The IoT was singled out as a particular challenge for secure credentialing, and biometrics as the way to meet that challenge, in a blog post by NEC New Zealand earlier this year.
