Biometrics Company DigitalPersona Appoints New Leader

Categories Biometrics News

DigitalPersona, Inc., a global provider of multi-factor authentication and access management solutions, today announced the appointment of Richard Agostinelli as president and chief executive officer.

Agostinelli is set to guide the organization through its next stage of growth, also serving on the company’s board of directors.

Fabio Righi, the company’s previous CEO, will serve as a board advisor.

“DigitalPersona was founded with the vision to make biometrics secure, affordable and convenient for individuals and businesses,” said Vance Bjorn, co-founder and chief technology officer at DigitalPersona. “I look forward to working closely with Rich and the rest of the leadership team as we move into this exciting next stage of our evolution.”

Agostinelli departs from publicly traded L-1 Identity Solutions, where he served as president of the biometrics division until its acquisition by Sagem Morpho in 2011.

He was responsible for integrating the products and people from several acquired businesses specializing in biometric technologies (face, fingerprint, and iris) and product lines (physical access, enterprise logical access, mobile ID terminals). He helped transform the company from a biometric product supplier to a leading provider of end-to-end multimodal biometric solutions to businesses and governments around the world.

“Businesses and governments around the world have begun to embrace the need for strong authentication solutions for both people and transactions,” said Agostinelli. “DigitalPersona is a pioneer in this market, and over the years has developed an excellent reputation as a provider of high quality biometric sensors and strong enterprise authentication software solutions supporting these initiatives.”
