NEC Corporation of America, a subsidiary of Japan-based NEC Corporation has announced that Shinsuke Takahashi has joined the company as president and CEO.

Takahashi succeeds Takayuki Okada, who will be returning to Japan to take up new responsibilities at NEC Corporation. In his new role, Takahashi will oversee the company’s North American interests, including voice, data and IT solutions for enterprise, government and carrier markets.

“NEC’s comprehensive expertise in IT and network communications, coupled with its devotion to customer satisfaction, have made it a trusted partner to so many businesses, institutions and service providers,” Shinsuke Takahashi, president and CEO of NEC America said. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the company’s growth and success.”

Takahashi comes to NEC with more than 20 years of sales, marketing and business development experience, primarily with NEC Corporation and NEC America. Takahashi was recently president at JAE Electronics, Inc., an electronic components company in which NEC Corporation holds shares.

As reported previously in BiometricUpdate.com, NEC provides many multimodal biometric solutions and recently launched a facial recognition service to be used in retail locations that allows merchants to profile customers and gauge shopping patterns.

Also, in 2012, a survey by the United States Institute of Standards and Technology recognized NEC Corporation of America for its ‘best-in-class’ facial recognition technology.
