The IEEE has announced a call for topics and papers for its upcoming Workshop on Biometric Recognition and its Applications (BR&A 2013), set to be held in conjunction with the IEEE iThings conference August 20-23 in Beijing.

The group invites papers from both academic and industrial research institutions, describing original results, new technical implementation, or in-depth user studies.

Topics can include, but are not limited to: face detection, recognition and tracking; iris recognition, sensor design; fingerprint recognition; speaker voice recognition; writing and signature recognition; gait recognition; palm recognition; facial expression recognition; other biometrics recognition and processing; identification based on multi-biometrics data fusion; sensor design; biometrics database; biometrics application technique; biometrics for network; and brain-computer interface.

The deadline to submit a paper for consideration is May 31, 2013, and all submissions should be written in English in IEE standard format, with a maximum of 6 pages.

All papers will be reviewed by the program committee, which will assess significant, originality, accuracy and clarity. Workshop proceedings will be published and extended versions of selected papers will be considered for publication in several SCI-index international journals.

Registration for the iThings conference is $650 for non IEEE members and $520 for members. More information is available on the conference website.
