World BORDERPOL Congress launches preliminary conference agenda

BORDERPOL has launched the preliminary agenda for its 2nd World BORDERPOL Congress, set to be held in London from Dec. 3-4, 2013.

According to the organizers, the World BORDERPOL Congress is the only multi-jurisdictional transnational platform for border protection, management and security industry policy-makers to convene annually.

Hosted by Border Force UK, this year’s conference promises a focus on lessons learned from integrated border management; growth and innovation in the border security environment; facilitation of low-risk travellers; organized crime relating to cross border activity; changing patterns and trends in cross border crime; innovation and future technologies, inter-agency cooperation, information sharing and interoperability; private sector objectives; difficulties in securing against organized crime and human trafficking; as well as Maritime and port security in the context of border security.

This year’s opening keynote will be delivered by Mark Harper, MP, Immigration Minister and Sir Charles Montgomery, the Director General of Border Force UK.

The full conference agenda is available at the conference website.

“This year, BORDERPOL is celebrating its 10th year of operations and has done so successfully due to the resilience of our team and our progressive and flexible approach. Over the past decade we have continually promoted the three C’s in global border security and advanced homeland protection, which is transnational cooperation, communication and consultation. This year’s World BORDERPOL Congress will provide participants with demonstrable opportunities to learn from and network with likeminded experts from around the world who understand and contribute to that concept,” Executive Director of BORDERPOL Thomas Tass said.

“This year the specially invited policy makers, practitioners and frontline decision makers will be challenged to expand and share with you their understanding, knowledge and experiences associated with the everyday business of making borders that work for the benefit of all users and stakeholders.”
