Kaba launches biometric safe lock and access control system

Kaba Access and Data Systems has launched a new biometric safe lock and access control system which the company says can be used as a stand-alone or as part of a larger access control system.

Called BioGard Pro, this new system combines the company’s LA GARD ComboCard Pro Safe Lock with its AX.S embedded access control system and I.AM biometric fingerprint key.

“What is so exciting about BioGard Pro is that it leverages multiple Kaba products to deliver a really unique solution to banks and retail stores,” Logan Stewart, product manager at Kaba ADS Americas said. “And, this product is perfect for not only new installations but any facility that has an existing ComboGard Pro lock on a safe or cash recycler. By adding the interface cable and access control system/reader to an existing lock, you can create an entirely new way of managing assets.”

With this system, users present their finger and with a valid read the system sends a signal to the ComboGard Pro that enables it to accept a PIN. According to the company, this access control database captures when and who accessed the lock.

The company says it plans to debut this system at the BAI Retail Delivery Exposition, November 5-7, 2013, Denver, CO.

Reported previously, earlier this year, Kaba launched the AX.S series access control and I.AM series identity access management systems, which support biometric authentication.
