Diamond Fortress Technologies launches touchless fingerprint authentication SDK for mobile devices

Diamond Fortress Technologies has launched a new touchless biometric fingerprint authentication SDK for enterprise mobile applications – for both iOS and Android development.

According to the company, the new SDK – called ONYX HD3 provides a high level of security by using a mobile device’s rear-facing camera to take a picture of a finger and proprietary algorithms to identify prints. The SDK also now features auto-capture.

“ONYX not only outperforms touch-based sensor solutions, but does so at a fraction of the cost,” DFT CEO Chace Hatcher said. “We give businesses greater flexibility in safely delivering their data, products, and services, while providing their employees and customers with a game-changing combination of increased security and convenience.”

DFT says the new SDK avoids many of the distorting variables present with hardware scanners.

The company is currently offering its new SDK for a free 60-day trial. More details are available on the company’s website.

Because the SDK is software-based, developers can integrate the system into a broad array of devices with rear-facing camera. ONYX HD3 is a software library written in C++, wrapped with Java for use on Android and Objective C for use in iOS.
