Cognitec updates facial recognition system, adds B8 algorithm

Cognitec Systems has just launched Version 5.2 of its FaceVACS-VideoScan facial recognition system.

According to the company, the new update includes Cognitec’s latest face recognition algorithm B8, as well as an improved interface design, better integration of camera models and corresponding camera controls, enhanced configuration options and support for RTSP/H264 monitoring streams.

The FaceVACS-VideoScan facial recognition system performs anonymous facial analysis over time to compute statistical information about people count, demographics and movement to detect frequent visitors in crowds. The company says it has found a growing number of uses for this technology and this is reflected in the new system upgrade.

Cognitec says the new upgraded version allows users to filter and acknowledge notifications from the system, and quickly find all appearances of a person in a given time window.

Reported previously, Cognitec recently announced that its facial recognition algorithm recently excelled in a NIST face recognition vendor test. According to the company, it showed particular prowess dealing with youth and senior age groups.
