Identification and verification firm Facebanx joins the Biometrics Institute

Facebanx announced it has joined the Biometrics Institute, bringing the member count to 155 including Gemalto, Hitachi Europe, Nuance Communications and Unisys.

“We are very pleased to welcome Facebanx,” said Isabelle Moeller, CEO of the Biometrics Institute. “Facebanx represents a growing industry where new companies are pushing biometric technology into the mainstream and their solutions cover many different markets.”

Since launching face recognition solutions in early 2013, Facebanx has more recently added voice recognition and ID document capture capabilities to provide a multi-layered verification solution.

“Being part of the biometrics community is an important part of our strategy and the Biometrics Institute is a good fit for us,” said Matthew Silverstone, CEO for Facebanx. “While Facebanx is a small organization presently, we are growing rapidly and we have a number of key projects ongoing in both the private and public sectors.”

Earlier this year, Facebanx launched new software that it said allows any user to use an image of their face and a voiceprint to replace passwords.

Facebanx’s solution is compatible with a range of devices, including a PC, tablet or smartphone that is fitted with a camera, and does not require any additional hardware.

As previously reported, the global facial recognition market has been projected to grow at a CAGR of 24.5 between 2012 and 2016.
