Alipay selects Nok Nok Labs to power FIDO ready authentication on Samsung Galaxy S5

Nok Nok Labs announced that Alipay will soon be using NNL S3 Authentication Suite to enable secure online payments via the fingerprint sensor technology integrated within Samsung Galaxy S5.

Alipay customers who make purchases and transfers in the Alipay Wallet mobile application can now apply their fingerprint to the fingerprint sensor for authentication that leverages FIDO standards.

The online payment firm has deployed the NNL multifactor authentication server, which provides a singular authentication infrastructure and communicates securely with the client included on the Galaxy S5.

Nok Nok partnered with Lenovo Group, another founding member of the FIDO Alliance, to deliver the solution.

“Working with Alipay, a major player in the global online commerce, to provide an easy, secure experience for their customers is tremendous validation for the FIDO movement,” said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and CEO of Nok Nok Labs. “As a global leader in delivering Internet-scale services to their customers, they needed a solution that can scale to meet future authentication requirements, while ensuring that consumers get a secure, yet easy-to-use solution today.”

Nok Nok Labs’ client and server software uses the security capabilities included on a mobile device such as a built-in fingerprint sensor, camera or trusted platform module to provide strong authentication to any application.

The S3 Suite improves user experience and overall authentication, lowers the cost and complexity of authentication infrastructure, and provides risk-appropriate authentication capabilities for a broad range of applications.
