The Biometrics Institute and the FIDO (Fast Identity Online) Alliance announced they will hold a joint event on October 20 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., just one day before the Biometrics 2014 conference and exhibition in London.

The high-level meeting joins a series of FIDO Alliance seminars which document the ongoing progress of transforming user authentication into a simpler and more secure digital experience.

The FIDO Alliance is joining forces with the Biometrics Institute to aggregate contacts and expertise, while Unisys has agreed to host the event.

The event will inform prospective members about the Alliance and the Biometrics Institute, their mandates, and their individual activities.

Additionally, the event will discuss FIDO Alliance’s technology and provide an overview of plans for the FIDO branding program.

The meeting’s main objective is to answer any questions attendees have regarding the FIDO alliance and the Biometrics Institute.

The organizations will soon announce the details of the full agenda.

Confirmed speakers include FIDO Alliance executive director Brett McDowell, Biometrics Institute chief executive Isabelle Moeller, and Unisys’ VP of security solutions & industry applications Terry Hartmann.

The event is limited to only 45 attendees with preference given to “adopters/ users”, namely financial institutions and government agencies, while others will be placed on a waiting list.

The event is free for all users but they are required to RSVP Isabelle Moeller.
