Bionym begins shipping biometric wearable Nymi Band to developer community

Bionym announced it has begun shipping its biometric wearable wristband, Nymi Band, to the developer community.

Previously reported, Bionym recently closed a US $14 million Series A round of funding led by Ignition Partners and Relay Ventures.

Nymi Band is a wearable device that authenticates a person’s identity by analyzing their heartbeat, or unique electrocardiography.

The device can also be used with applications that require passwords, PINs and keycards.

“We recognized early on that the Nymi would be limited without a strong developer eco-system,” said Bionym CEO Karl Martin. “We’re in constant awe of the creativity coming out of our developer community, and are excited about the ideas that they bring to life.

We’re dedicated to supporting those that are creating Nymi-enabled applications, and look forward to working within them on an ongoing basis. At the end of the day, it’s about creating new convenient, secure, and delightful experiences for Nymi users.”

Bionym also revealed that it has started manufacturing the Nymi Band to be shipped to all individuals who initially backed the Nymi Band with early pre-orders.

The biometric band units are currently being tested and shipped to “key developers, partners, and team members”.
