Digitus Biometrics releases server cabinet access control platform

Digitus Biometrics announced it has released its new db Cabinet Sentry server cabinet access control platform, which can be deployed in either a networked or standalone setting.

The energy efficient, cost-effective and compact in-cabinet control unit is about the combined size of two smartphones.

Digitus Biometrics’ new access control platform works especially well in environments where organizations are working with a structured cabling setup.

The db Cabinet Sentry is so energy efficient that it can be configured in a Power-over-Ethernet setup, which enables it to work under those settings or with an external power source.

Just as with Digitus Biometrics’ other access control systems, the db Cabinet Sentry integrates with its DAS-SQL software, which provides full management of all network-connected db Cabinet Sentry locks.

As a result, users are able to freely manage device configuration, user enrollment, reporting, alerting and monitoring through a single software platform.

Digitus Biometrics also provides customers with a mobile app that enables them to manage core functions including device configuration, user enrollment and reporting if the db Cabinet Sentry is being deployed in a standalone environment.

“The db Cabinet Sentry is the result of two years of customer feedback being integrated into the Digitus ServerRack Access Control platform,” said David A. Orischak, CEO of Digitus Biometrics. “Key features of the Cabinet Sentry are: PoE, optional environmental sensors that measure things like temperature and humidity and a Bluetooth interface.

The Bluetooth interface enables mobile authentication and the ability to operate the db Cabinet Sentry in a true standalone mode, in addition to networked mode. The minimal size of the db Cabinet Sentry allows it to be installed virtually anywhere in the cabinet.”

The access control platform is fully compatible with any existing lock option from Digitus Biometrics, but can also be altered to work with any electromechanical lock from a thirdparty company.

Db Cabinet Sentry is supported by the db Infinity Program, providing users with access to software and firmware updates through the life cycle of their access control system.
