Fingerprint Cards partner with O-Film to provide touch fingerprint sensors to OEMs

Fingerprint Cards has partnered with O-Film to provide its touch fingerprint sensor technology while O-Film is developing, manufacturing and selling fingerprint sensor modules to OEMs.

The partnership represents the first market launch with O-Film modules and FPC1025, and is expected to roll out in Q2 2015.

FPC said the initial revenues from the fingerprint sensors will be generated for the company during the first quarter of 2015.

“FPC’s world leading technology in touch fingerprint sensors, used by companies such as Huawei and Oppo, combined with O-Film’s strong track record in touch panel and camera (TP/CCM) modules will be a powerful combination in China and globally,” said Jörgen Lantto, acting president and CEO of FPC. “We are looking forward to working together with O-Film to accelerate adoption of fingerprint sensors. “

Through the partnership, the companies will mainly target the high-growth Chinese market, which is currently seeing a high adoption rate of fingerprint sensors among OEMs.

Additionally, mobile payment solutions are now being deployed using fingerprint sensors and both companies have global aspirations for their collaboration.

As part of the partnership, O-Film will develop fingerprint sensor modules with FPC’s line of touch fingerprint sensors including FPC1140 and FPC1145.

“Seizing the opportunity in the development of the mobile internet industry, O-Film has become a world leader in TP, and continues to build rapid growth in other optical electronic components,” Ken Tsai, senior vice president of O-Film. “FPC is a top global developer of biometric fingerprint sensors. We initiated this cooperation with FPC after evaluating their superior performance in touch fingerprint sensors and we are happy that this collaboration has already started with a high pace.”

Previously reported, Fingerprint Cards’ touch fingerprint sensor FPC1020 and Precise Biometrics Precise BioMatch Mobile algorithm have both been integrated in Intrinsyc’s mobile development platforms MDP810 Tablet and MDP810 Smartphone.
