Medical firm deploys Suprema, Entertech Systems’ biometric access control solutions: case study

Suprema released a recent customer case study in which it provided core finger biometric technology and integrated software for medical device firm CorMatrix Cardiovascular’s access control system.

After relocating to a new head office in the greater Atlanta area, CorMatrix required an access control solution for the 80,000 square feet site, which also had plans to expand over the next year.

CorMatrix hired Timberline Security Services to identify and implement an identity management system, which in turn selected Suprema and Entertech Systems as the hardware and technical support provider to install and deploy the biometric access control system.

The system needed to be easy to manage and use, reliable, scalable, and fully integrated for seamless identity management of access control and time and attendance. Additionally, the system needed to be able to control multiple doors.

“I was asked to install an access control system for our new building and the first thing that came to mind from past experience was the management of all the cards, or should I say ‘lost, forgotten or stolen cards,’” said Mike McLean, IT manager at CorMatrix. “This prompted us to seek out another solution. I was aware of biometrics but I hadn’t had much success with it in the past. Entertech Systems’ deep expertise, comprehensive offering and the Suprema line of readers convinced me to give biometrics another try.”

Timberline and Progressive Technology Group installed more than 15 Suprema biometric devices throughout the CorMatrix facility, including Suprema BioEntry Plus on interior doors, and the Suprema BioEntry W on exterior doors.

The solution included biometrically securing access to the IT room, building access at the front, side and back, as well as access to laboratories, cleanrooms, manufacturing areas and the entrance to the executive wing.

Additionally, the BioStation T2 was installed in the front lobby for time and attendance tracking of all employees.

“The system has been in place now for more than a year and I am pleased to say it has operated flawlessly,” said McLean. “I have since recommended it to several other companies and they too have had great success.”

Previously reported, Suprema integrated Axxon Intellect PSIM software with Suprema biometric technology, combining true identity with an intelligent video analytics platform to provide a highly secure security system.
