Daon’s IdentityX platform helps USAA process 1M mobile biometric enrollments

Daon announced that one of its customers, USAA, has reached a milestone of processing 1 million mobile biometric enrollments.

USAA integrated Daon’s IdentityX platform into its existing two-factor mobile app authentication, replacing its existing password system to provide improved security and convenience for members accessing its mobile app.

“Reaching the milestone of 1 million enrollments is a strong testament of our members’ preference to use a biometric when authenticating,” said Rick Swenson, assistant vice president of enterprise financial crimes management strategy and analytics. “By offering a biometric in conjunction with our very secure ‘Quick Logon’ solution, USAA is able to provide our members both a highly secure and convenient means to access their accounts. We thank Daon for their work throughout this exciting implementation and for the IdentityX Platform that allowed us to provide more options for our members.”

USAA initially conducted several pilot testings of IdentityX’s facial authentication with liveness, voice recognition and PIN verification amongst a small internal sampling, before deploying a full-scale rollout in early January.

By providing facial recognition, voice recognition, and PIN options, USAA members are able to select the most appropriate identity verification method based on their situation.

“Achieving this rate of adoption by USAA clearly demonstrates Daon’s ability to operate at scale, establishing us as the leading provider of mobile authentication globally,” said Tom Grissen, CEO at Daon. “Watching the rapid adoption of biometrics by USAA and reading the complimentary Tweets of USAA members is a testament to the desire to use this form of authentication and validates the efforts put forward by both organizations.

“We look forward to our continued relationship with USAA as together we explore more options to provide secure and convenient authentication methods for its members. We are firmly committed to supporting USAA’s culture of going above and beyond and doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do.”

Previously reported, Daon announced that its IdentityX Mobile Authentication Platform v4.0 has been certified by FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance.
