Daon supports next-generation biometric border control system in Asia

Daon announced its contributing role in extending a biometric border control system in an unnamed developing country in Asia.

In 2007, a Japanese global system integrator first integrated Daon biometric software to make it the first multimodal biometric middleware put into production for border control in a developing country in Asia.

In 2014, the same systems integrator upgraded the system to the Next Generation Biometric Identification System using the Daon end-to-end biometric software suite.

At the time of upgrade, the Daon software managed up to 60 million traveler’s biometric records, which include fingerprint and face images, as well as over 300 million traveler movement events.

Daon helped the system integrator in upgrading the biometric border control workstation and server technology.

As such, the upgrading process was seamless with no interruption of service, and the system has been running successfully ever since.

Under the existing contract, Daon will support the latest generation of technology until at least 2018.

Previously reported, Daon announced it has delivered automated passport control kiosks to Dublin Airport in support of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Pre-Clearance program.
