eu-LISA to present an analysis of the Smart Borders pilot at the EAB Research Projects conference

eu-LISA will present an analysis of the outcomes of the Smart Borders pilot at this year’s European Association of Biometrics Research Projects Conference (EAB-RPC) taking place in September in Darmstadt, Germany.

eu-LISA is the European Agency for the operational management of large-scale IT Systems in the area of freedom, security and justice, a newly established EU agency to provide a long-term solution for the operational management of large-scale IT systems, which are essential instruments in the implementation of the asylum, border management and migration policies of the EU.

The annual conference is the largest of its type in Europe and provides a forum for researchers working on various EU-funded projects related to biometrics and identity management to present the outcomes of their work and discuss plans for the future.

In a statement, the Agency commented that it “looks forward to attending and availing of the opportunity to interact with experts working on technologies that may enhance migration management, border control and/or maintenance of internal security going forward. Attendance is part of the Agency’s on-going work to monitor new and developing technologies and, where appropriate, examine possibilities for their incorporation into its systems and associated infrastructures.”
