FPC and Precise Biometrics fingerprint technology in new Huawei devices

Fingerprint Cards (FPC) and Precise Biometrics fingerprint technology has been integrated in new Huawei mobile devices.

Huawei’s new P9 Lite, G9 Plus and GR5 devices feature Fingerprint Cards’ fingerprint touch sensor FPC1025. Precise Biometrics’ algorithm solution for fingerprint recognition in mobile devices, Precise BioMatch Mobile, has been integrated in the Huawei P9 Lite and Huawei GR5 devices.

As previously announced, Christian Fredrikson recently took over as FPC CEO from Jörgen Lantto on August 1.

The change was made to strengthen the company’s organization in order to execute the firms strategy of adapting fingerprint sensors into new market areas such as smart cards and internet of things.

2015 saw FPC strengthen its market position within fingerprint sensors for smartphones and grow from a small company to one of the 30 largest companies on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.

According to a recent company statement, this growth created new demands on both the company’s board and management, and was one of the reason behind the board’s decision to appoint a new CEO.
