Live Finger Detection technology implemented in the ZTE AXON7 MAX

Goodix has revealed that the ZTE AXON7 MAX is the first mobile phone to implement its Live Finger Detection (LFD) technology.

LFD technology is invented by Goodix and according to a company statement, it is designed for mobile use. Integrated in a single-die structure, it is small in size, durable and reliable, and can be covered by glass panel or other coating materials. The LFD sensor integrates fingerprint and optical sensors in one package. The optical sensor uses infrared to detect human tissue and confirms the fingerprint is from a live finger.

Fully compatible with mobile payments applications such as Alipay and WeChat Pay, LFD is expected to raise the security standard for mobile payments and other applications.

Earlier this year, Goodix CTO Dr. Bo Pi, spoke with BiometricUpdate.com about the company’s strong commitment to research and development.
