IDEX exhibiting its flexible fingerprint sensor embedded in a smartcard at TRUSTECH

IDEX will be showcasing its flexible touch fingerprint sensor embedded in an ISO-ID1 smartcard at TRUSTECH later this month Cannes, France.

“IDEX’s polymer sensor is uniquely suited for card integration,” said CEO of IDEX, Dr. Hemant Mardia. “The IDEX sensor is fully flexible and offers significant cost advantage over conventional silicon sensors due to the small silicon footprint. IDEX unveiled the world’s first flexible sensor for ISO-ID1 in February, and has worked with the card ecosystem to deliver a fingerprint sensor that conforms with standard card mass manufacturing to create a scalable, low cost solution.”

Dr. Mardia will be presenting on the requirements for embedding fingerprint sensors in smartcards and IoT devices – markets in which IDEX has enabling solutions with its patented off-chip technology.

Using IDEX’s off-chip technology, the fingerprint image area can be scaled to get the best biometrics within power and size constraints for cards and IoT applications. Partnerships with blue chip companies in the card ecosystem ensures a scalable solution using existing card mass production lines. The flexible sensor is compatible for card operation with existing infrastructure, including relevant security protocols and Point of Sales terminals.

Earlier this month Safran Identity & Security and IDEX announced they have made significant progress toward commercializing the world’s first ISO standard form factor smartcards with a touch fingerprint sensor.
