RSA adds cloud-based identity assurance capabilities to SecurID Access
Security technologies firm RSA has added a series of new capabilities for its RSA SecurID Access solution including a cloud-based authentication-as-a-service option.
The cloud-based AaaS option delivers seamless access to both on-premises and cloud-based resources and systems, as well as additional dynamic, risk scoring functionality that provides convenient and secure access for any user, despite the location or time.
“Organizations must balance user demands for convenient and secure access while ensuring users are who they claim to be,” said John Tolbert, senior analyst at KuppingerCole. “RSA SecurID Access now features a platform for integrating a variety of MFA options to right-size authentication to business risk, unite islands of identity domains, and promote interoperability with other IAM solutions.”
RSA SecurID Access enables customers to choose from a range of advanced mobile multi-factor authentication options including push notification/approval, biometrics (fingerprint, eyeprint), Fast Identity Online (FIDO) token, and hardware and software tokens.
Users can select the deployment option that is the most ideal for their environment, whether it is an on-premises, SaaS, or a hybrid cloud option.
RSA’s newly-launched advanced identity assurance technology is designed to validate the legitimacy of access attempts by assessing several types of user characteristics, such as role, location, IP address, device type, and time of attempted login.
The system then correlates and analyzes this data, along with the risk associated with the asset the user is attempting to access to make authentication decisions in real time.
Leveraging dynamic risk analytics at time of access request assures organizations that assets are protected while only prompting users to increase the authentication level when the situation appears more risky.
Current RSA Authentication Manager customers can also take advantage of RSA SecurID Access’ advanced mobile multi-factor authentication (mobile MFA) options.
“RSA SecurID Access enables our existing customers to extend their use of RSA SecurID Access from the traditional authentication strategies and methods to cloud-based, flexible options for their increasingly mobile workforce and other users requiring authentication,” said Jim Ducharme, vice president of identity products at RSA. “Our latest innovations in advanced multi-factor authentication, validated by the pure cloud Identity Assurance-as-a-Service offering, operate seamlessly in hybrid on-premises and cloud environments, allowing organizations to move to the cloud on their timeline.”
