KeyLemon, SoftKinetic to demo mobile 3D face recognition at MWC Shanghai

KeyLemon and SoftKinetic will deliver a joint demonstration of 3D front-facing camera in mobile and 3D face recognition technology at at Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2017.

MWC Shanghai, which will be held later this week at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), is a conference and exhibition focused on the worldwide mobile industry.

The combined used of SoftKinetic’s front-facing 3D time-of-flight (ToF) camera with KeyLemon’s 3D face recognition technology enables authorized individuals to authenticate themselves by simply taking a selfie.

The demonstration will prove how face recognition can efficiently combine depth, near-infrared and color information to deliver mobile authentication.

“3D face recognition has been anticipated on mobile for many years, and the recent reports of 3D mobile cameras moving into mainstream production have only heightened the anticipation,” said Gilles Florey, CEO of KeyLemon. “With SoftKinetic’s DepthSense technology, KeyLemon 3D face recognition capability can now be demonstrated under real-life conditions.”

The use of 3D cameras enables valuable information to map the user’s face. As a result, 3D face recognition delivers accurate, secured and user-friendly authentication.

The partnership between KeyLemon and SoftKinetic is expected to accelerate the mass adoption of face recognition for mobile authentication.
