Caradigm, RightPatient partner to provide biometric ID, access management solutions for healthcare

RightPatient has partnered with Caradigm to deliver a suite of comprehensive identity and access management solutions to protect patient identities, secure patient data, and improve clinical and IT operational efficiency.

Through the partnership, RightPatient and Caradigm will provide healthcare solutions that combines biometric patient identification service with an integrated identity and access management solution.

The companies provide an enterprise-wide identity management solution that ensures patients are kept safe throughout the care continuum, as well as strengthens security to ensure HIPAA compliance and reduce the risk of litigation if patient data is lost or accessed by unauthorized individuals.

RightPatient said it provides the most accurate, scalable, hygienic, and versatile, HIPAA-compliant cloud-based biometric patient identification service.

With an easy implementation process and seamless integration into any electronic health record (EHR) system, RightPatient’s solutions have already saved tens of millions of dollars annually for healthcare providers by decreasing denied claims, reducing medical errors due to misidentification, preventing duplicate medical records, and ensuring accurate patient identification through photo biometrics.

The company’s solution suite publishes the patient photos in health records, wristbands and other applications to improve patient safety, as well as offers an app that transforms any smartphone or tablet into a patient recognition device.

“Patient record mixups and identification inaccuracies are a direct and serious threat to patient safety, privacy and the quality of care, not to mention their negative impact on revenue cycle,” said Mizan Rahman, founder of RightPatient. “Healthcare organizations are under tremendous pressure to improve patient identification accuracy and secure PHI access to protect privacy, reduce medical errors, and prevent data breaches that compromise provider reputation, costs, and quality. Our partnership with Caradigm unites the most accurate and versatile biometric patient identification technology with an industry leading SSO solution to reduce mistakes and simplify workflows.”

Using Caradigm, healthcare providers are able to simplify workflows via a single set of credentials or multi-factor authentication in an integrated clinical workstation to provide fast and secure access to sensitive patient data.

Caradigm’s Context Management ensures the same patient record is automatically selected across the different clinical applications, cutting down on the amount of time and potential error related to manually searching for the patient in each application.

“We are pleased to partner with RightPatient which offers biometric solutions to accurately identify a patient and ensure retrieval of the correct medical record,” Neal Singh, CEO of Caradigm, said. “The solution is a perfect complement to Caradigm’s integrated identity and access management solution and the joint solution will provide more secure patient data, and improved clinical and IT operational efficiency for our customers.”

In July, CrossChx and RightPatient teamed up to enable CrossChx customers to use RightPatient’s biometric patient identification service and photo biometrics capabilities.
